Newspaper:
Heavier paper is more absorbent and works best, specially while learning the tricks or watercolor painting.   Please purchase any newspaper with a weight of #140 or higher.  You may employ either a pad, block, or loose newspaper.  I would propose purchasing several small sheets of various paper if possible, this way you lot will be able to try out a few options and decide which works best for you.  Arches is my preferred brand, only there are lots of other quality watercolor brands available.

Forms of paper that will work include pastel lath, toned pastel newspaper, mat lath, heavy weight drawing papers, and Arches, Cannon, or Strathmore printing or charcoal paper.  Paper tin can be anywhere from approx. nine½ x 12½ to 19 x 27 in size.  Approx. xvi x 23 is my preferred working size.

For first project please bring a white sheet of paper in a size that you are comfortable working with.  Toned paper may be used in post-obit classes to create dissimilar furnishings.

Acrylic Medium:

Acrylic and gel medium helps to slow the process of drying with working with acrylic paints.  Acrylic medium comes in many different forms and brands.  I am nearly familiar with Utrecht, Liquitex and Golden, but please feel gratis to choose some other brand.

Brushes:
Bristle and sable brushes are the all-time, but synthetic/imitation materials will besides work well.  Bristle, or stronger haired brushes are best for larger brushes and sable, or finer haired brushes work all-time for smaller, detail oriented brushes.

Flat brushes are the nigh versatile.
To showtime your collection, I would propose the following:
2 small brushes: At least one round brush, other may exist a bright, filbert, or apartment
2 medium brushes: I flat, other may be a bright, filber, or flat
